Hey all, it’s catch-up time once again! The last month and change have been pretty productive, so it’ll be good to give you guys an update as to what’s happening.

First off, the Yankees are in the ALCS! They beat the Twins in the Wild Card Game, got past the Indians in a thrilling, come-from-behind, five-game series. They’ve lost the first two ALCS games in Houston, thanks mostly to one Jose Altuve, who has become my nemesis.

Jose Altuve. Public Enemy #1.

The Yanks brought it back to the boogie-down (The Bronx for all you non-New Yorkers) and won Game 3, with help from Todd Frazier and Aaron Judge (both of whom belted three-run homers), and a vintage performance from CC Sabathia. They’re still down 2-1 in the series, but the next two games are at home, and the Yankees have the best home record in baseball. This has, of course, nothing to do with writing outside of maybe explaining why I’m distracted lately. But it’s important, trust me on that.

Yeah, baby!

On to the writing stuff: I finished the first draft of a short story called Noon to Midnight. Edits begin this week, and this may include a title tweak. I should have it up on the site by the end of the month, so stay tuned! The story is an old unpublished short that I wrote in my early 20’s, refurbished and rewritten. I was surprised at how well the bones of the story held up. I wonder what other ideas I can dig up from the past…?

NaNo planning is going well; I’m about halfway through plotting Urban Legend. The NaNo draft will be rougher than rough, but I think I’ll end up with a lump of clay I can work with. Aligning plot points is the hard part, but it’s fun. This is a bigger story than I’ve ever done, and it has a ton of moving parts. Now, during NaNoWriMo, I’m going to do two things: grow out my facial hair (it is Mo-vember as well) and blog frequently. I want to keep updating you as to what’s going on, and hopefully, that will motivate me to finish. It’s good to plan a couple of times a week to come up for air when you’re about to spend a month neck-deep in work.

Finally, I’ve settled on a new title for my next book. You know, the one that was supposed to come out this year, but fell behind because I’m having trouble on the edits. It was previously called Open, but I’ve got something else in mind now… or rather, a couple of something elses. I’m going to do a poll on it soon, keep an eye out!

Anyway, were all caught up now, I hope everyone’s enjoying Fall! Cheers!
