Not Quite Ready

And in the end, the Baby Bombers ran out of gas, and the Yankees’ magical playoff run comes to an end.

It’s crazy to me that this team was projected to be mediocre at the beginning of the season and still came within one game of a World Series berth. For most sports franchises, the word “rebuild” usually means two or three years of last place finishes. Then a couple of years just on the outside of the playoffs looking in, and finally a few years of early playoff exits before one, maybe two years of being one of the best teams in the game. I mean, ask the Astros; they beat us, and that has been the trajectory of their last eight years. The fact that the Yankees got to that middle portion of the process inside of one year is impressive. They just weren’t quite ready.

We played the Astros tight, and as much it pains me to admit it, they were the better team. They’re scary good, and since their core players (Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and George Springer) are young and cheap, they’re going to be good for a long time. Hats off to them, good luck in the World Series. However, they weren’t that much better than the Yankees. These two teams will be the top of the American League for years to come.

And now, on to basketball.
