Progress Report: December 2022

Hey you guys!!!

I hope you enjoyed your turkey, because the Christmas season is now upon us! Out with the pumpkin spice, in with the peppermint mocha! This year I kicked off my holiday season with a quick trip to my old stomping grounds in New York to share Thanksgiving with some family and to celebrate my mother’s upcoming 80th birthday. After that I caught up with some old friends and even did a few touristy things. Always a great time when I get to go back home, but I’m glad to be back in front of my desk and working on the stories in my head.

Here's a little more of what’s coming down the pipe:

· I’ve made significant progress on the first draft of Empire Towers. And while I didn’t hit my 50K target during November (more on that another day), I have a very solid framework and roughly 65% of the story drafted out. I’m going to work on finishing that draft up before the end of this year.

· I’m going to resume editing work on Urban Legend, the neo-noir superhero murder mystery I’ve been working on for a minute. I’ve gotten through most of the first act, and I’m going to go through it again, just to clean it up somewhat. Once major holes are fixed, I’ll run it by my alpha reader again, then hire a professional editor. You’ll hear more about this in the coming weeks as well.

· Underground Rhapsody is nearing its first draft completion as well. If I’m ambitious, I can work on that and Empire Towers simultaneously. If I’m smart, I’ll finish one, then work on the other. There are but so many hours in a day after all.

Anyway, I wish you all nothing but peace, health, long life, and goodwill for the rest of 2022 and into 2023. The last couple of years has led to a dramatic reshuffling of life, priorities, and relationships for a lot of people, and I hope that as we settle into a new stasis, we find a degree of peace and sanity.
