Is it over? Are we sure? Okay, cool.
I want to wish you all a happy 2021. Last year was brutal, but if you’re reading this then you survived it. You are all my heroes. And it seems like we’re entering the next phase of the pandemic, as vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna are available, and one from AstraZeneca coming soon. Whether or not you’ll take it is your choice, but if you don’t…

… can I have yours?
Anyway, all jokes aside, here’s what’s going on at my end of the universe.
- Watched the third season of Cobra Kai on Netflix, and I gotta say, it’s awesomely cheesy. Kudos to William Zabka and Ralph Macchio for playing two guys who never got over the best or worst of times in high school. You can binge it easily in the space of a lazy Saturday morning.
- The NBA is back, and the Knicks are playing well, with a 3-3 record as of this writing. New head coach Tom Thibodeau has a reputation for preaching defense, and it seems that the team has bought in. To that, I say “It’s about damn time.” I don’t expect them to challenge for a playoff spot this season, but this is definitely a team on the rise.
- After several attempts over the last four years, I finished a manuscript! Urban Legend clocks in at a shade over 62,000 words, and while it’s not ready for primetime yet, I have a special place in my heart for this story. I’ll actually talk about it this week in a separate post. Stay tuned.
- With the Great Writing Crunch of 2020 behind me, I’m free to read again. Next up on the review list is Colson Whitehead’s John Henry Days. Keep an eye on this space for the review!
One of the things that has occurred to me is that I know a bunch of brilliant, creative, and talented people with a hustler’s mindset. Independent spirits, like myself. And I haven’t been as good at supporting them in their hustle as I could be. So, to my friends out there, whether you know me personally or not, let me know what you got going on. Tell me about your music, your books, your poetry, your art. Tell me about your clothing line. Tell me about it, send me a link, and I’ll support it. I’ll buy it, read it, wear it, bump it in my vehicle. And I’ll be chatty about it on social media. You never know when something you create could be someone’s favorite thing.
And on that note, I’m out! Stay safe, mask up, and I’ll see you soon!
