Work In Progress #10: Progress Report, July 2023

Hey folks, happy Summer! Hope you are all enjoying grill and barbecue season, beach time for those who can do that, and the general good vibes that come with summer. Unless, of course, you’re in one of the places in North America that is actively on fire, or downwind of one of those places. In that case, (I’m looking at you, Northeast), I hope you’re all staying safe and out of the smoke.

Things are good here, as life has finally stabilized somewhat. After a couple months of layoff and a lot more drama than should be expected, I finally started my new job in mid-June. It’s stable and secure, a good place to land, and someplace I see myself at for a good, long time. And now that that’s sorted, I can finally get back to a regular writing schedule.

- Work continues on Urban Legend. I’m still doing edits on the early parts of the draft. The problem with it being done over the course of a few Novembers is that it feels like three different writers worked on it. That, hopefully, is fixable before I send it to a pro. I still have hopes of having it ready to go by the end of the year.

- I’m still working on a couple of short stories. It’s been a while since I’ve worked on one, so it’s like flexing a muscle that isn’t as strong as it used to be. However, I have some older ones that are solid, and I’m going to share that with you.

- Which brings me to my next thing: Story Time is launching on the site today! I’m going to share a free story with you every month, some from my back catalog. Additionally, there will be some sample chapters of upcoming work every so often. This month’s story is Billy, and it focuses on what happens when a man comes face-to-face with the monster under his childhood bed after 20 years. Feel free to take a look!
